Re: Max's Kansas correct speed version
An official speed corrected release, together with the Joseph Freeman Max's tape and the Max's rehearsals might be an attractive package...

Re: VU live bests
Run Run Run: I'll go with Gymnasium. It's a bit uneven, but it has got some real high points and is a better quality recording than BTP, which would be the other contender for me. There's a really long version from Boston tea party in 68 I think that is absolutely ferocious and the best version I'v...

Re: The Velvet Underground At The Boston Tea Party
I always wonder whether these BTP recordings (We're talking about Klimek here i think) covered the August and September dates when John Cale was still in the band. Is there any special reason why they only started in October? The BTP and Hilltop Festival recordings weren't made by Jamie Klimek, but...

Re: VU concert broadcasted in 1970 on SF radio?
I guess the least exciting possibility is that the Matrix recordings were the 4-track recordings we already know about.

Re: VU concert broadcasted in 1970 on SF radio?
These were quadrophonic broadcasts achieved by simultaneously broadcasting two channels on one stereo station and two on another.
The VU stuff was recorded at the Matrix, according to this:

Venus In Furs: In the absence of a good quality full Cale live recording, I'm going for The Matrix, San Francisco, California, December 1, 1969, as on The Complete Matrix Tapes. I prefer it to the other version on that box.

Re: VU live bests
Femme Fatale: Really not one of my favourite VU songs. I think I have to go for November 4, 1966, Valley Dale Ballroom, because that's the only live recording we have of Nico singing it. Shame the recording quality on the Banana album songs from that gig doesn't seem to be as good as on the long ins...
