Re: John Cale recorded five '3rd' album songs with VU?

Do we know who wrote the setlist (if it wasn't Reed)? Was it even member of the band? It seems very doubtful to me that the band would choose a gig in 66 that Lou wasn't at to play a load of previously (and subsequently for a couple of years) unheard songs written by Lou.

Re: Airing of 'Waiting' 65 demo on 'Walking the Wild Mind' BBC R4

Olandem, thanks for the share. Interesting that the post mark is 11 May 1965, the same date as given for the demo including Heroin which surfaced just after Lou's death. Could just be coincidence or could be from the same session, although there's no 'WFTM' listed on that demo. Sounds very similar i...

Re: Prominent Men: Early Demos

Well whatever the reason and mechanism, 6 of the 7 tracks were transferred to disc at some point, as evidenced by various sources and the photo of Sterl's acetate on p.131 of Unterberger's book. Unterberger gives a pretty detailed description of the tracks on p.130, and concludes that they could wel...

Re: Prominent Men: Early Demos

Are we going with late 1965 as the date of that demo with Sheltered Life etc then? Personally I still think late 66/early 67 makes more sense... I've also always gone with the late 66/early 67 date. From memory the argument they were from late 65 stems from the fact they were supposedly recorded at...

Re: Chic Mystique mystery

It is interesting, and I've always assumed it was a melodica - certainly has that sound. I wondered if possibly Nico played it? If you can pick it a tune on a harmonium I figure you could pick one out on a melodica. That said, I've always found it impossible to decipher the actual instruments on Chi...

Re: Interview-article about the Lou Reed archive on please kill me

It implies these are solo pre-VU demos featuring just Lou - I think?

Re: Interview-article about the Lou Reed archive on please kill me

Wow, very interesting. I suspect that some of the 7 tracks are ones we are aware of - 'Never Get Emotionally Involved...', maybe 'Prominent Men' (as it's not a well known VU song), etc. - but it definitely looks like there will be some unknown stuff in there. Just hope it gets released soon!
