Re: Lou Reed Papers, 1958-2015

It's an odd one. The introductory text to the live tapes section specifically states that the earliest material is from 1966, while the list begins at Dec 1968. It could be that Lou's archive included material that has already been commercially exploited (Columbus 66 for example) and has not been li...

Re: Lou Reed Papers, 1958-2015

It looks as if the July 65 demo they touted round the UK remains lost or is lying undiscovered in Cale's archive. All this combined with the PSAS demo and the Pickwick rehearsal tape would provide an amazing record of the evolution of the band 64-65.

Way beyond what I'd expected. I hope we get to hear this.

Re: Prominent Men: Early Demos

I did something similar. Editing out the best versions of the '65 demos from PSAS. Didn't think of sequencing them with the second set of demos. I'll give it a listen. I've made albums from Cale era demos & gymnasium tracks and from the outtakes from Loaded. I look forward to what he does with these.

VU Soundtrack Shenanigins

Some interest was expressed in the soundtrack edits that I have made, so here's what I've got. Nico Crying/Exit Music (39 minutes) - this is dubbed from a dvdr of a single screen version of the Chelsea Girls Movie, it has some drop-outs and a couple of tape glitches. However, this means that you'll ...

What was the source of the audio? An audience recording?

Be interesting to hear your edits, if you cared to share them :)
I'm not sure where the audio came from, but I think it's better than the Falling Spikes bootleg extracts. I'm happy to share the edits, but it won't be before the weekend.

Re: "Hedy" gabless

Nice. Thanks for doing this and sharing it Phil. These few minutes are worth it. I saw the film some time ago and would not have thought of extracting any audio from it. From what I know the film is listed at 70 minutes in Stephen Koch's book. I don't remember it feeling that long. 70 minutes is ab...

Re: couple soundfiles of interest

Thanks Phil. Out of interest, what do you consider the best source of audio for Symphony of Sound?
