Re: A song named "Lou Reed"

Magnificent, thanks everyone, keep them coming. And of course, the ultimate (self-)reference is in "Sweet Jane": Standing on the corner Suitcase in my hand Jack is in his corset, Jane is in her vest And me, I'm in a rock'n'roll band -- Not to mention the self-reference in the 1993 live version: Som...

Of course I can't find it any more now than I could then ;-(
Could also have been an offline source, I'll check some books/articles. Will take some time though...

Re: Henry Daniels' 1971 Velvet Underground article

I've never heard anything of this before. The story claims that at least some of it was actually recorded, but I can't tell what the basis for that info was. Does anyone know more about this, especially whether any of it was actually recorded? Funny thing was, perhaps synchronicity, that I read bac...

Re: A song named "Lou Reed"

And then there's "Shoulder Pads #2"(YouTube) by The Fall, which features the line:
Mark E. Smith wrote:They couldn't tell Lou Reed from Doug Yule
Ain't it the truth, BTW, with all the confusion about who sings on "I Found a Reason" and "She's My Best Friend"...

Re: Future 45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Editions?

Yes, or even emulate the sound of that acetate in a new mix. It's the best version. Light on the bass as on the Foggy Notion EP. OK, letting the Smurfs rest for awhile... Just been listening to the Foggy Notion/I Can't Stand It 7" that Sundazed put out in 2012 for Record Store Day. I always assumed...

Henry Daniels' 1971 Velvet Underground article

Back in 2003, I hosted a forgotten 1971 interview with the band (mainly Doug and Maureen) conducted by Henry Daniels for the UK mag Frendz . Came across it just now, thought I'd just as well might (re)share it on here. ----------------------------------- The following article is an interview by Henr...

Despite all the amputations, the name of this band is V.U.

For what it's worth, back in 2004 I had a short snailmail Q&A with post-Lou Velvet Willie Alexander. I was just curious to see what his take on the year 1971 was. Since Willie didn't/doesn't like the Internet, e-mail etc., I sent him a letter with some questions, which he briefly answered. Still, of...

Re: A song named "Lou Reed"

There's also the song "Two Skaters" by Dutch art-rock band The Nits ( YouTube ), which references the VU: Your sister in Montreal is sending an LP of The Velvet Underground We're steaming the walls of your brother's old room Peel slowly and listen It's off their best-known album, In the Dutch Mounta...

Re: Who Plays What - Loaded

I want to know who coughs in the second verse of Who Loves The Sun? Hooray for vinyl! Last week I bought a US first pressing of Loaded at a very reasonable price from a secondhand LP store here in town and it surprised me how clear the detail is on there. I was always led to believe that CDs offere...
