Re: Question about WGO fanzine early issues

Just because this is some thing that I’ve been thinking for a long time… And Phil, if you’re listening, this is a specially for you!… I’d love to see a PDF (if not a printed version, although I would love that even more) of the complete set of WGO issues. I would pay good money for that!

Afterhours tape on Ebay -- insanity!

Hey all!

Thought you'd get a kick out of this -- someone wants $200 for this one VUAS Afterhours cassette. Sure they're rare (I have a full set), but really?

Re: The Velvet Underground at (maybe) Fillmore Auditorium 1966 DVD

Thanks for posting this! Did anyone else notice the clip of Moe from this footage in the new Todd Haynes documentary trailer? I thought I hadn’t seen it before but wasn’t 100% sure. It will be interesting to see whether the film is longer than what we see here, and whether he has managed to source ...

Hoping they also have footage from Barbara Rubins Uptight silent films she shot of them in early 1966, like when they appeared on the David Suskin (sic?) show.
That's another possible Emerson...it's available for rent 8-)

Re: Velvet Underground tunings (Video)

That is correct. Ostrich guitar tuning is featured on All Tomorrow's Parties only. Most of the other songs are standard tuning dropped down a whole step. Actually, that downtuning was standard for the VU up until the 1970 Max's run.

Indeed he is referring to the WL/WH sessions here! Those sessions ran almost concurrent with the last of the Only Money sessions.

The Velvet Underground at (maybe) Fillmore Auditorium 1966 DVD

OK folks! After sorting out a bunch of issues, here is a VERY short bit of new footage, most likely from the Fillmore Auditorium. Filmed by Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters and erroneously inserted in a 1989 documentary about the Acid Tests. Almost all of the footage is of the audience, but there are ta...

Once I get my Dropbox upgraded, I will post the footage. It's actually less than a minute, and mostly of the dancers. Surely there is more of this in the Kesey archives...I could ask ;-)

Re: 1966 footage of the Velvet Underground shot by Jonas Mekas

I am actually thinking that this is most likely from the Fillmore, by the way...looking at the photos from the Trip, Moe seemed to be playing on the floor, with the bass drum turned right-side up. Plus San Francisco makes the most sense, given that the film was evidently shot by the Merry Pranksters...
