Re: Candy Says performance in Haynes documentary
Turns out you were right, his footage is silent, as per this older thread: http://velvetforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=144734 I took another crack at syncing up the footage - there's some brief clips that show up a minute or two before Doug singing in the doc but I'm not sure what part of the song they'r...

Re: VU Photo Thread
I've wondered for a long time why there never seemed to be any pictures of Doug playing with Lou in 75/76, despite performing on a whole tour, but I finally found two shots, the first from March 9/75 in Amsterdam and the second from the 25th in London: https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/lou-reed-p...

Re: Candy Says performance in Haynes documentary
Thanks, that was a really nice read. He doesn't say anything about it being silent though:
Using my friend Michael Pitkow’s video gear, a primitive Sony Portapak, I shot some grainy black-and-white footage Todd was able to use, with Doug singing “Candy Says.”

Re: Todd Haynes docu announcement
Watched it this morning. I think Todd did a very good job considering what he had (and didn't have) to work with, and it was nice to see footage like the tarot card reading and the David Susskind show. As a total obsessive though, I was a little disappointed by the whole Cale = crazy WL/WH, Yule = 3...

Re: Candy Says performance in Haynes documentary
The "Candy Says" footage is from the band's performance at the Paramount Theatre in Springfield, Massachusetts, on April 17, 1970. It was shot by Steve Nelson (the show's promoter), on monochrome (B/W) and soundless videotape. But that show was also captured on audiotape, by an unknown recordist. T...

Re: Guess I'm Falling In Love fake live version?
For reference, here's another Upbeat video with the general 'audience' sound:

Sounds pretty close to the opening of this track to me.

Re: IHHCMN
They did play it live - there's a pretty bad recording on the soundtrack to Warhol's Boston Tea Party film from 67. I attempted to adjust the audio a bit but it's really not very enjoyable listening, haha (and I say that as someone who's logged hours with the Amp Tapes): https://www.4shared.com/musi...

Re: Unearthed EPI Review - Hamilton, Nov 12 66
Hey that's my hometown too! So I've also been interested in that show. When I visited the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh a couple years ago I was tickled to see a review of the Hamilton concert on display in the VU section. The concert and review is covered in the book White Light/White Heat and ...
