Re: Cassettes in the UK 89-93

I visited Edinburgh record fairs from 1980 onwards and picked up a fair number of live lou Reed / vu cassettes. But to be be honest I got more by trading. I used to run a wanted ad in Goldmine every few months and made a lot of trading contacts that way. The "live and alive" section of Enrique's Web...

Re: JC on WPIX, June '79: Fever In My Pocket

I dug out my old cassette of this - ol' Captain Beaky's "guest DJ" appearance on WPIX FM on 3rd June 1979. It looks to be about 40 min long so I'm not sure if it's the whole show or not. Immediately prior to the VU track, the DJs and John are talking about cueing up a song ("Kidnapped" by The Resist...

Re: The Velvet Underground Documentary - Call to Fans

it may well have been me who originally floated the idea and if it was, it was pure speculation on my part... That’s a very common misconception... Actually it's not, it's just an idea someone on this board floated, that we talked about for a short while. Nobody claimed they'd solved the mystery. I ...

Re: Complete list of Velvets Footage?

I don't have the photos to hand to confirm but I seem to remember that some of the photos shot at the cafe bizarre in 1965 show barbera rubin holding a movie camera? Anyone else remember that?

Re: VU in Dallas 1969 with sound...

just watching that footage again I'm struck by the simplicity (naivity?) of the whole situation back in 1969. those folks weren't to know that they'd have another 5 or 6 years of Vietnam, Nixon/Watergate, Carter/Iran, Reagan, then the 90s, Iraq 1 and Iraq 2, etc etc. The whole world seemed a lot sim...

Re: VU in Dallas 1969 with sound...

Great find! I have long wondered if this footage still existed after I saw the still shot of Sterling being interviewed on film in Doug Yule's book of 1969 photos! Even better that the camera also captured them on stage. If only he/she'd filmed for a bit longer....

Re: Complete list of Velvets Footage?

I am not able to access that facebook group. Anyway your list is missing Piero Heliczer movie Venus in Furs. From what I heard Nico and Lou are playing It was a pleasure then in Warhol moview Four Stars. It would confirm a short excerpt in Nico - Frozen Warnings clip, see around 2:25 : https://www....

Oliviers site also mentions a Jan 1970 appearance on a local TV station in Chicago.

Re: Complete list of Velvets Footage?

The "after the white heat" bootleg Cd has the best quality source of that show iirc but it is missing Heroin. Heroin is on the old cassette copy I have but is much worse quality wise. But its all relative - it still sounds as if it was recorded from the car park using a tin can as a mic.

Re: Complete list of Velvets Footage?

I agree with Phil - more detail needed and this would then be very useful. Re the paramount 1970 footage. I think this is actually silent film but the audio exists (in really poor quality) from another source.
