Re: Richie Unterberger on the making of White Light/White Heat*

yes that's a really interesting interview - thanks. I go back regularly to Richie's book, not just because it's a tremendous reference work, but because he often offered very pertinent and accurate insights as a background. I always wondered why Hans Onsager didn't appear - I don't believe that he h...

Re: Lou Reed Gigography - Research Results (1978)

MG I'm really sorry I've not contributed more to this great work but I will when I get some time. I have 1st generation audio recordings of both Eindhoven 10th Aug and Amsterday 12th Aug - I shared them both on Dime a while back. I also have a silent colour film of part of the Amsterdam show, but it...

Re: Magic and Loss is about Rachel, isn't it?

Looking at contemporary press cuttings, Lou often talks about Doc Pomus, but never mentions "Rita" in any that I have seen.

Re: Magic and Loss is about Rachel, isn't it?

Lou was quoted in the Press Kit for M&L: "Over the last year in particular there were some friends of mine that I lost. And the experience of it and the inspiration that these friends gave me was the reason that I wrote the album." And talking about "Cremation": "The song "Cremation" was directly in...

Re: Lou Reed Gigography - Research Results (1972-73)

great research MG! That's my ticket stub for Manchester 27th Sept 73. I think the old 27th July Manchester date is in error. I have a scan of a poster/flyer for Akron Civic Theater 21 January 1973 but I'm not sure if it is genuine. Also, 20th April 1973 - Santa Monica Civic Auditorium (not May) 18th...

many thanks for locating and posting these items!

"avante-garde folk rock" - I suppose in 1965 context that's what it sounded like. Those were indeed different times.....

Hello, is this tape in his archives ? Sally is the best album he's done, perhaps with Berlin.
I doubt it. This show was recorded by the sound engineer and retained by him. The tracks i uploaded are all that were in his archive.
