If it was left off, it was definitely a mistake and not, as the article suggests, a later addition to try to spruce the song up. It's possible a non American pressing got messed up with the mastering engineer not realising it was meant to be there.

In a world with too many VU covers albums that sound pretty boring, this sounds like I'm going to have to go for, based on lineup alone.
Looking closer they're almost all Lou solo songs (including a couple that he first recorded with the VU), but it still looks like fun.

That one was indeed confirmed through an article in a music magazine I looked at a few weeks back. It was the magazine they sell in Third Man Record shops. Sadly, this seems correct.
