Re: 1967 review of VU&Nico from the UK

Thanks mangue, it's good to see an old mag from the time when Dave Dee outsold Clapton. ... which are never likely to get played by the BBC. Yes indeed, back then they never got played on the BBC but now the band and the individual members and even the songs are all too frequently the answers to the...

Re: Martin Scorsese on Lou Reed

....and https://www.theguardian.com/music/velvetunderground This lead was too good to ignore, so I made my way to Sean Stanley's "Velvet Underground – 10 of the best" which included "What Goes On" because it exemplified "Reed’s obsession with ... anxiety" in the line “One minute born / One minute d...

Re: Cassettes in the UK 89-93

Thanks lurid, that's good info that I didn't know; thanks bleach, lovely memories of Camden Market where the tribes of England mixed and mingled before it went commercial and before half of it burnt down. Anyway, the documentation project continues slowly and has turned up an interview with Lou in B...

Re: Cassettes in the UK 89-93

Sounds interesting, do they have tapes from the 1993 reunion ? A lot listed here in the tapes section are totally unavailable. Well, I don't know who "they" are; I didn't really know the sources and the market stalls came and went years afo, so any tapes that did exist are presumably no longer avai...

Cassettes in the UK 89-93

I'm not sure if the "After Hours" tapes themselves ever reached the UK, but between '89 and '93 various other VU tapes could be picked-up from pop-up stalls in markets from Walthamstow to Wapping; I stopped collecting them in '93 when cassettes started to decline and the stalls disappeared. Collections ...

Just wondering - what plans are people making for their collections of vinyl and cds and limited-edition private releases and books, etc., ready for the time they "go from this land here to that"? Will your nearest and dearest keep them or will the dumpsters of the world overflow? Are there places t...

Re: Dear Delmore- It has been a very long summer and winter.

Phil, can I add to your list please?

"The rich johns on park ave" paying to watch sex acts fits neatly with Nelson Algrens "A walk on the wild side" ... coincidence or
prescience?
