Re: Words and Music May 1965 - Lou Reed

Light in the Attic announced that the music will be streaming this Friday and that there will be a "surprise" with the physical stuff coming in October. Yes, I get that Don't Think Twice is from the bonus 7" (and apparently all 6 tracks from that will also be on the CD), I was just making the point...

Re: Words and Music May 1965 - Lou Reed

Rolling Stone review, which, oddly, includes "Put Your Money Down on the Table," which, though it is on the Copyright tape, is not included on the LITA release: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-album-reviews/lou-reed-words-music-may-1965-1234590523/ I wonder if that's going to be on one of ...

Re: Words and Music May 1965 - Lou Reed

Who's playing harmonica on this? I assume it's Cale, but not aware he ever played it any other time?

Re: Words and Music May 1965 - Lou Reed

I don't think I've listened to Disc 1 of "Peel Slowly" more than once since it originally came out. I think the issue with Disc 1 of PSAS is actually the inclusion of multiple takes, particularly with the last couple of tracks which get really repetitive. I edited out the best complete take of each...

Re: Guess I'm Falling In Love fake live version?

For reference, here's another Upbeat video with the general 'audience' sound: https://youtu.be/PzYiq07douU?t=59 Sounds pretty close to the opening of this track to me. Yes, very similar, and also sounds like 'canned cheering'. On balance I really think this is the Upbeat recording it claims to be, ...

Didn't they appear on the show three times between '67-'68?
According to Unterberger, yes.

In the "TV appearances" page of Olivier's site it quotes 8th July.
It does, but that's also where the "early 67" quote is from. Unterberger also lists a possible Upbeat performance on 8th Jan, and specifically links it to GIFIL. Maybe this is that performance, but who knows?

Re: Guess I'm Falling In Love fake live version?

The more I listen to this the more I think it's an early version, pre-Gymnasium, which would fit with the Upbeat timeline. The idea of 'canned cheering' being from the original broadcast seems definitely plausible to me as well. Great find, thanks for sharing But upbeat was July 67. The gymnasium s...
