Re: New John Cale album

A brief dedication to Lou would be a nice touch, but given the way their friendship veered from love to hate then back again (and again and again) anything else might be out of place on an album cover. I don't think old Lou fans will switch en masse to JC, they'll just stick to Lou's back catalogue ...

Re: IWTFM - a new piece of trivia - Buzzcocks

I hate the association between VU and Top Gear.

One is an exposition of subsocietal counter-culture and its population of sleazeballs, whilst the other is ...

Re: best live stuff with John Cale

Hi treak, welcome to the forum. Take a look at this thread http://www.velvetforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=144725 and you will see that many of us here want a whole load more live Cale material, because there isn't all that much really. You can find "Chic Mystique" in places, a long live jam from '66...

Arctic Monkeys 'stole' new album title

I have been wondering if this is really proper VU fodder, but what the hell. It's from June 2013, thus before Lou died, and shows that the Velvets' influence was still strong before the outpouring of tributes. http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/arctic-monkeys-stole-new-album-title-from...

Re: second fret may 70

Yes, nice find stooge, thanks. I too had a poor quality cassette of this at one time. Sadly I still can't hear the lyrics to "New Age" even on this clearer version. They are not the same as the Loaded version. Nor 1969 Live. Nor the Quine tapes. If I'm right though the first two lines are classic an...
