Re: Sweet Sister Ray reissue 2023

Thanks for the info. I got my copy this week. It’s a nice-looking gatefold production on matte card stock. (The original pressing was a single sleeve.) The people at that supplier told me that they are expecting these two items this week: 2 other crucial Velvet Boots: BOSTON TEA PARTY JULY 11TH 1969...

Carole King's A Road To Nowhere and All Tomorrow's Parties

I've never heard of this connection before today. Of course, this might be something that everyone here knows about already. A friend saw some youtube channel that pointed it out. The arrangement of All Tomorrow's Parties seem to owe a bit to Carole King's A Road To Nowhere . I looked up the release...

I'm just going off the sleeve notes which say "mono mixes prepared at Sterling Sound". I don't know if that means they were actually mixed there (I assumed it did) or just mastered.
Normally they do say ‘mixed by’. In the 45th book, I read ‘prepared by’ as meaning something else.

Re: Warhol's private tape is ready to roll...in public!

One thing I do hope is that if they do release the tapes they leave them in their original 1966 mixes. Personally I don't know why they felt the need to give them a new mix for the 45th set, I'd much rather they just left them as they were. The Warhol tapes are mono mixdowns. I dont see how they ar...

Re: Heroin 4:21 edit

Given that this single was released in 1981, I would guess that the album version of the song is simply faded out towards the 4:21 mark. One could achieve the same thing with some software of a volume control, I would think. I'd be surprised if there was any other difference.

Re: 2 Bostonians recording the VU before 1967.October?

I hope they do make it available, if it's live material from that era that for me at least would be holy grail. They must have sounded fantastic at that point I agree. It sounds to me like these two men had a studio space and recorded the bands in there, so if it exists it should sound good and may...

Re: 2 Bostonians recording the VU before 1967.October?

I can't help wonder whether this refers to the Boston Tea Party Audition tape in the NYPL Lou Reed archive. When I first saw it in the database there was no further information about it. 560540. Tea Party Audition. 1967 October Last time I mentioned this on the forum, member hkmartin responded to sa...

Re: Sound excerpts from interview with John Cale, 1966 September

Thank-you, Alfredo. Wondering whether there's a way to hear the whole tape, I found this page where an mp3 can be requested. Usage details has to be stated. What restrictions apply before they will provide one, I'm not clear. Obviously you need to regiester with the Institute https://www.aaa.si.edu/...

Re: Todd Haynes docu announcement

I was disappointed by Venus in Furs as it's presented as silent while a soundtrack exists. Yes, I noted it was silent and wondered what that meant. Has anyone ever seen the film with a complete soundtrack? There's scant information about the film. The only book I have that lists it, says that all H...
