Re: "You should give other people just a little chance"
Nobody wants to dignify this posting with words? In other words a verbal explanation of why this NFL film is linked here.

I got curious about the building that houses the the platform the bands played from at that event. It looks like a frathouse, yet is in a public park. I've found a couple of links that give more info:

"Lost film flashes back to Dallas' forgotten 1969 Vietnam War protest — starring the Velvet Underground!"
I've come across an interesting article, from a 2019 edition of the Dallas Morning News, that offers some background on the great footage, rediscovered around that time, of the VU performing at the city's Moratorium Day rally: https://tinyurl.com/728m3akk Included there is a link to the YT file of t...

"John Cale’s Musical Journey Knows No Limits"
Today's New York Times includes a fine new feature article on John Cale by Lindsay Zoladz, a career summary cum P.R. for his new album Mercy . Most significant are Chantal Anderson's stunning new photos, as well as one I've never seen before taken backstage at the Vexations performance in 1963. To g...

Re: Lou/Nico/April 29 '71
Thanks for the replies. I'm curious to know where the info behind this one comes from:
Nico was due to play the Gaslight, NY with Lou on guitar, mid May 1971.

I've been listening with great interest to the 2-CD set of Reed/Nico rehearsals from April 29, 1971, at the apartment of Richard and Lisa Robinson. It's a remarkable document, with the two musicians, and occasionally the hosts as well, engaged in relaxed, often charming conversation between takes of...

Re: VU live bests
There's a version of "Ocean" on End of Cole Avenue The First Night also. Where does one find that version? When I sourced my copy of the CD (in the velvet pouch), the version there turns out to be the same as from the second night (albeit with a bit of the beginning cut off). And I guess "Waves" fr...

Re: VU live bests
Are you saying that artists can only be inspired by immediately recent events?I'm not really getting this. I guess it's possible. It sounds a bit of a slim connection. He died in 66. What was the date of the demo version

Re: VU live bests
I haven't forgotten this project, but have found that selection of a single favorite of some of the nominated versions is harder than anticipated: this version, for instance, might have great band dynamics but that one a more intense lead vocal. I'll keep listening though, with the hope that at some...
