Re: VU concert broadcasted in 1970 on SF radio?
The program guide makes it clear that the VU portion of the broadcast was unrelated to Moran's "Positions," and also makes it seem likely that it's the same material as we now have from the Matrix. A four-track recording, however, is different from quadrophonic, and it's extremely exciting to note t...

Re: VU concert broadcasted in 1970 on SF radio?
An exciting find, but the phrasing leads me think that “Positions” might simply incorporate pre-existing works by the cited artists.
It definitely warrants further exploration. Can you post an image of the ad itself? (If not, I can do it for you.)

Re: Lou Reed Gigography - Research Results (1972-73)
I'd like to direct anyone interested in learning more about The Tots, including how Lou hooked up with them, to Steve Katz's 2015 autobiography Blood, Sweat, And My Rock 'n' Roll Years: Is Steve Katz A Rock Star? Not only was Steve himself Lou's producer for a time ( Sally Can't Dance and the live a...

Re: VU live bests
Thanks y'all, this is great. Anyone with further thoughts on the matter please submit them soon. My next step will be to pull the discs and start listening to these suggestions. I'll begin taking suggestions for WL/WH in another week or so. Please note that I'll wait to post the resulting "albums" u...

Sunday Morning: None, as I would not want to mix up eras. What's this mean? Venus In Furs: A hybrid of Poor Richards 66 into Valleydale 66 Hybrid? Heroin: all of Poor Richards weirdly segeuing into the Factory 66 and the Valleydale 66 versions ?? There She Goes Again: Factory, 1966 How is that “liv...

Re: VU live bests
I would like to restrict the pool of live versions to shows no later than Reed's leaving the group at the end of the Max's residency of summer '70. Even if, for instance, there's a consensus that a preferred version of one of the songs is from the reunion era, I prefer to ignore that version in favo...

VU live bests
I had an idea recently to compile a set of live VU recordings that'd match the track sequences of the four main albums, to the extent possible. The project only makes sense if I use the best live versions of each respective song. Perhaps we could use this forum to nominate candidates for each song, ...

Re: Ugly Things #60
I'm really glad you like it. I'd like to point out one typographical error that materially changes the meaning of the statement: the quote at the top of the middle column on pg. 13 was said by Terry Philips, not Tony Conrad. Oopsie …

To walkonvu, do you know the cover date of the Vogue issue with the page on the Cunningham/Glass House show?

Re: June 3, 1967, Connecticut - Footage uploaded on YT
You can see the full documentary here: https://vimeo.com/521485453 This appears to be the same new transfer but in slightly lower resolution (540p vs 720p). What a great find, hiding out in Vimeo rather than YouTube. :P The discovery of the Vogue page is also terrific, and leads me to wonder if it ...
