Re: Ukulele tabs for The Velvet Underground

Well, now I find that lizardonuke has posted the UOGB version of Candy on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__C6FYt1FA4

Not sure if the ukulele feedback in the middle is deliberate but it seems to send the singer off-key. Never mind, for this beautiful version, Kitty Lux we love you.

Re: Ukulele tabs for The Velvet Underground

It's got the spirit a lot of covers lack (and could be how it would have sounded with John on viola and Nico on harmonium)

IWTFM - a new piece of trivia - Buzzcocks

Late September 2009 - here in the UK, the BBC is using 'I'm waiting for the man' as the backing track in the trailer for the new series of 'Never mind the Buzzcocks' (a pop quiz of sorts). I guess it was chosen because they are waiting for a new quizmaster - the team captains are seen looking glumly...

Re: Ukulele tabs for The Velvet Underground

In the 80s I saw the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain play 'Candy Says' - they played it straight, it was very moving.

It's a shame it's not on YouTube - but this link should take you to their version of 'Satellite of Love' .

Re: Met VU

I met Mo in the early nineties - briefly when I climbed onto the stage at The Grand in Clapham, UK; it was legitimate, they had tee-shirts for sale and invited everyone up. Mo seemed a bit retiring, maybe bemused at the large crowd. On stage she had said you couldn't get her album in UK, I said you ...
