Re: I'll be your mixtape: Musicologist discovers tape of unreleased Lou Reed music
Unfortunately I think it is very bogged down by legalities. From what I have read it seems the tapes from the Warhol archive are not accessible to the general public and cannot be released (but are available for scholars). The author of this work could not even quote lyrics directly because the work...

I'll be your mixtape: Musicologist discovers tape of unreleased Lou Reed music
Musicologist discovers tape of unreleased Lou Reed music: A dozen previously unreleased songs by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame artist Lou Reed have been discovered on one side of a cassette tape from 1975, currently stored in the archives of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. The songs are based on Wa...

Re: 3rd album cover what-if
Personally I love this idea. I like illustrations generally and this one is really cute. I think Lou said something to the effect of, how did you know we were just kids playing music? Which is, well, not really the whole story, but it does kinda fit this album. The actual album cover is okay but not...

Re: A Day of Listening at the Lincoln Center Library
I can’t remember where I heard it (either here or another forum or Facebook) but I thought the record labels are trying to claim various recordings in the archive and that is making any releases difficult.

Re: Lou Reed Archives Poll
I voted ‘Buttercup’ but only because that’s the only one I have heard of before, but I definitely want to hear all early / VU era stuff. Like every second. Please someone leak or release it to us

Re: White Light/White Heat and The Ambassadors: Two skulls
Oh cool nice catch! I think the story behind the album cover is Lou picked out a frame from one of Warhol’s movies and zoomed in on the tattoo. Andy suggested printing it black on black. Having studied art maybe he knew of the painting. Or was just being mischievous.

Re: VU Masters?
I thought the Matrix Tapes came out after the venue agreed to it or something like that, I don't think it was in Lou's archives or had anything directly to do with him? I can't tell from Lou's archives if any of the recordings are master tapes (haven't gone in person, just looked at the online listi...

Re: VU Masters?
The recent article about the UMG fire (I really recommend the article if you haven't read it, its fascinating although depressing) does say Verve stuff was lost. There is a big list of bands and artists whose masters were burned but the Velvet Underground (and Lou and Cale) are not explicitly mentio...

Thanks for sharing your notes!
For the piano tracks, do you think they were Lou or Cale playing? I assumed piano stuff would be Cale, but you said Lou played some songs on piano so now I wonder.
