Popsmuk 1972

Post by mangue » 10 Jan 2016 17:59

Hello all,

Have a very nice Dutch 1972 book called 'Popsmuk', containing a section about The Velvet Underground, incl.1971/72 interviews with Moe Tucker, John Cale, Nico and Lou Reed. Personally really like the interviews (and pictures) of Maureen (done 1971.Oct.11 after the Top-pop performance) and Nico (sometime in 1972 in Paris).

Here a translation of the Colofon:
'Popsmuk' is the follow-up of the in 1971 issued book 'Popnamen'.
The interviews in this book were done between 1971 September and 1972 September for the VARA-radioprogram with the same name and mostly appeared in this written form in Het Vrije Volk, Aloha and Muziekkrant OOR.
The order of the articles is chronological. The pictures are made by Gijsbert Hanekroot, except were noted differently (i.e.Cale)
The design is done by Hans Versteeg, Amsterdam.

For your pleasure scanned the VU related pages: https://www.mediafire.com/?uu5nxnl31i1sc0s

People interested in getting a (2nd hand) hardcopy, you can look here: http://www.boekwinkeltjes.nl/su/?qt=popsmuk

Greetings, Mangue

Hello All,

Just found the original newspaper article with the interview with Maureen Tucker, which was reprinted in the book:
http://www.delpher.nl/nl/kranten/view?i ... eg21:a0200

EDISON VOOR VELVET UNDERGROUND
Maureen Tucker: "Ik heb nooit gezegd dat ik kon drummen" (I never said that I could play drums)

Text: PIM OETS
Pictures: GIJSBERT HANEKROOT
Newspaper: Het vrije volk : democratisch-socialistisch dagblad
Date: 17-11-1971

jpg scale 100%: http://www.delpher.nl/nl/api/downloadim ... :image&s=1
text (OCR): http://www.delpher.nl/nl/pres/view/page ... 0&coll=ddd (using chrome, IE didn't work for me)

be aware text includes scanning mistakes (i.e.typing error "opcketboek" becomes "opeketboek")
a "Double Dutch" translation of the text can be get by using google chrome translation

For everybody searching for more at delpher.nl, best select under "Doorzoek alles" only "Kranten" (=newspapers) and then button "Uitgebreid zoeken" for advanced search.

Enjoy the read ride, and have fun "zoeken".
