In the BBC program "The 5 Live Hit List" broadcast on 31st January 2016, one of the speakers says "Lou Reed's Perfect Day, which as many people know is a song about heroin addiction".
According to Lou, it is not a song about Heroin addiction and any assertion that it is should be challenged. So, if you can, please listen to that part of the programme (16 minutes to 23) then fill in a BBC complaint form (follow the link at the foot of the page, "Contact the BBC"), and here is the programme link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06z1d0z. It will expire at the end of February 2016, so act soon.
I do not wish to deflect attention from the subject under discussion (the death of Colin Vearncombe) but throwaway jibes at Lou should not be tolerated.
Lou of course sings "You're going to reap just what you sow", so the BBC having sown a breeze, should reap a whirlwind.
Take up your keyboards Lou fans and right this wrong.

Re: Perfect Day - help.
I hate the fact that there are people who think that the guy who wrote 'Heroin', 'Waiting for The Man' and 'Walk on the Wild Side' was one of those rock singers who needed to hide their drug references in a song like Perfect Day

threechord. It's not a personal jibe against Reed. The person who briefly mentions the song is aping an opinion she's heard somewhere rather than listening and thinking things through for herself. It's an uniformed opinion on a BBC gossip program masquerading as a popular current affairs/news show. Lou Reed's bigger than this. Don't let it upset you.threechordwonder wrote:In the BBC program "The 5 Live Hit List" broadcast on 31st January 2016, one of the speakers says "Lou Reed's Perfect Day, which as many people know is a song about heroin addiction".

EDIT. But I will write - maybe they would read a letter on the show, if they thought it corrected a popular misunderstanding about Reed and that song?
