Thanks for the link! I do like how he's up front and honest, explaining that he's essentially compiling all the known info out there and adding on a bit at the end.

You pull no punches when it comes to the protagonists’ works – you state that but for Bowie, Reed’s career might’ve ended after the weak first album, and that certain albums, like Sally Can’t Dance, are poor.

I wonder why authors need to judge the music. I don't want to read ANY author's opinion of whether an album is good/bad - especially in the context of a non-fiction book. Let music critics worry about that. I happen to enjoy SCD for my own reasons, and considering it was his highest charting LP EVER, other people must enjoy it, too.

Where is it written that journalists can't also be critics?
