Newspaper pics of VU EPI in SF in 1966

It was definitely filmed, see the camera man, standing in the same spot as in the recently shared videoclip. If only we could get the full footage and audio from it.

Amazing Pictures!

Looking at the one above it seems like Moe used The Mothers drum set? Or is it perhaps in front of her?

Yes, really evocative pictures. Wish there were more of the band onstage. Is it my imagination or is the cameraman in the 'opposite' location to that indicated by the film clip?

If I'm not mistaken this frame shows Hetty McGee (who'd marry Angus MacLise) and Severin Darden. I hope they were on the guest list!

She didn't use a kick-drum -- not a properly-facing one, at any rate -- so your guess of "in front of her" is probably correct.
