Moe's drumming pre and post Loaded

Post by MrStephen » 26 May 2019 22:45

Just enjoying the 1971 Amsterdam concert again, although it's odd to note that on almost all of the tracks, Moe is playing like any other standard rock drummer. I was wondering whether this is because she's listened to Loaded and thought this style was now what was required of her, or something else? How had she played the various Loaded tracks before she went on maternity leave? I don't know the late 69 or early 70 bootlegs well enough to judge...

I feel like her style just changed because of Willie and Walter joining with their own styles. Doug sings the songs very differently in some cases too and almost every song is played differently in some way leading me to think the band just shifted as a whole.

A real shame we don't have any evidence of a 'missing link' period- after Lou leaving, but before Sterling leaving. I'd love to know what they sounded like then.

There's gotta be a recording somewhere. It's weird one has never come up.

Weren't versions of "Friends" and "She'll Make You Cry" recorded with Sterling?

See the 45th anniversary thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=106528&hilit=smurfs&start=10 and beware of lurking Smurfs.

Yeah, but the demos have never been released in any form which is a real shame. I'd love to hear Friends with Sterling.
