Velvet Underground v. Andy Warhol Foundation For The Visual Arts, Inc.

The Velvets's Banana logo is so special -- not only inherently beautiful, but also financially lucrative -- that the VU wound up suing Andy Warhol's corporate legacy over its use. The case went to trial in 2012, with the plaintiff's claim denied on grounds of failure to present a "justiciable controversy."

The judgment -- which is largely in dry legalese (plantseed patents are cited!) but includes some tidbits of great interest and amusement to ordinary VU fans -- can be read in full here:
