I think we're going to be frustrated until we hear from Mr Peterson himself (If we ever do!)iaredatsun wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021 12:15He could still have inherited the recording from the original source.

Re: Guess I'm Falling In Love fake live version?
I think I have shared this before. During an email exchange with Tony Conrad back in 2002 I asked him specifically about the UpBeat Show.
This is what he said:
Hi Alfredo-------------
Well, I do have a recording of that show------but it's on a reel-to-reel AUDIOtape; and I'm away from my collection right now, so I don't have access to it. I haven't listened to the tape, so I don't even know if the VU played any music or just talked.
--------------t0ny
He should recorded the show directly from the TV set speacker(s) with a hand-held mike. Really doubt the sound fidelity coming out from the 60´s Conrad´s tv set was any good...

Hi, another long time lurker and excited at finally finding something from their fabled Upbeat appearances! I’d done some digging here over the last few days and wanted to share.
I have 3 DVD-Rs of extant full episodes and clips (which I’d bought years ago in hopes of finding the Velvets), and had a few notes: 1) only two sets of credits are included across all of this footage, and none include anyone with Lund or Peterson in the name. 2) that cheering in the VU clip is absolutely from Upbeat. It matches other clips where a crowd (likely canned) cheers at the end. 3) As others have mentioned Upbeat mostly had bands lip sync, but once in awhile the band was live. As such, they likely did not have a great handle on how to mic (loud) rock bands so it would make sense that all we’d hear is Lou’s guitar and voice. My guess would be it was just someone with a tape recorder next to the TV speaker (Tony Conrad’s copy, or maybe “Lund”’s) given that significant CRT tv buzz underneath. Last, the masters of this Upload footage is all owned by Retro Video Inc. (http://www.retrovideo.com/footage_library/upbeat/) but from memory someone had reached out to them years ago and they confirmed that there was no VU in what they had from Upbeat (though they definitely seem to have more than is included on the discs I have). That said, they do have VU + Nico (I think at that Mod Wedding) from the Donald Jackson Film Library: http://www.retrovideo.com/footage_libra ... ollection/. Not certain if there is audio or just silent video. Hopefully Todd’s documentary will include this? I've seen other photos folks have shared here from this event but not the screenshot they show on that page (with Nico and Moe):

I had wondered if the reason the video was not more widely noticed sooner was because it was set to ‘private’ on Youtube and only recently made public. But I was able to find a Youtube playlist someone had last updated in 2015 which included this video (as well as another Lou clip), which indicates that the video was searchable and likely included Lou in the description at least.
I’m starting to doubt that Lund Peterson is his actual name. Based on his uploads, he’s most likely Wisconsin-based (though he has uploaded some footage from a Rochester NY station). I’d done some extensive searching in hopes of finding another way to contact him, but cannot find someone with that first/last name in WI or anywhere. And he has uploaded other music (e.g. a full LP of psych/sunshine pop band The Robbs) so he’s clearly a fan of music from that time period. I’m hoping he responds to the comments folks have left - Youtube definitely sends an email and puts a notification within Youtube to let you know someone has commented on your video.

What to make of the way the music track fades in at the start?
Re: Guess I'm Falling In Love fake live version?
Welp, I do believe I've found Lund's blog, if that helps at all. Lund appears to be John Lund Peterson, if I'm not mistaken. This blog has some of the same videos from Lund's feed and the blog owner is a Lou Reed fan.stadtwerker wrote: ↑20 Apr 2021 15:48I’m starting to doubt that Lund Peterson is his actual name. Who the hell is John Peterson?
Past life: As an unemployed former liberal radio talk host that can't find a job in one of the most liberal cities in the country, my show continues here in writing..
