White Light / White Heat versions
White Light / White Heat versions
I'm trying to track down an article I remember reading which describes the differences between the stereo and mono versions of WLWH. I think it's from the early 70s. I thought it was by Lester Bangs but I can't find it in Psychotic Reactions. It's not in All Yesterday's Parties either. Any pointers gratefully received.
Alternatively, I'm sure there are probably loads of threads on here talking about the differences.
Finally, I've seen talk of the UK version of WLWH (e.g. the 5th disc of Ultimate Stereo Album). How does it differ from the US version (sonically, that is, rather than labels, sleeves, etc)?
Thanks.

Re: White Light / White Heat versions
Somebody once pointed out to me that the vocals on the mono title track are not distorted in the way they are on the stereo version. Most striking difference to me has always been Lady Godiva where the mono mix sounds better.
I dont think it is correct to call the UK pressing of the album a ‘different mix’ as the ‘ Ultimate Stereo Album’ box seems to claim. It’s just a nice pressing.

Re: White Light / White Heat versions
does it come with the Abbey Road half speed mastered certificate? Is it the same as the mysterious Greek one from 2019?

What’s an Abbey Road certificate? I’ve no idea whether it’s the same as the Greek version.gazatthebop wrote: ↑22 Oct 2021 22:53does it come with the Abbey Road half speed mastered certificate? Is it the same as the mysterious Greek one from 2019?

Nothing like that. But given that I bought these from UMG’s own online shop, why would they not be genuine?gazatthebop wrote: ↑25 Oct 2021 02:32My other Abbey Road non VU half speed mastered LP's include these

not suggesting they are not genuine. Just seems weird they turned up in Greece two years before being released here. The certificate is gold foil stamped and looks quite good for what it is
