I don't know what became of Billy's archive, but it intrigues me to see Ray Johnson in one of the photos selected to illustrate the article. I don't know much about Johnson, and in fact only became aware of him from a song nominally about him on John Cale's 2011 mini-album Extra Playful.

Ray Johnson: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Johnson
The song seems to be a playful meditation on certain aspects of Cale's personal early years in the U.S., although the hip-hop style is not likely to please a wide swath of VU fans.

a random person on Instagram says that Billy's archive is being 'looked after' by Dagon James, the guy who runs Waverly Press...
on the https://www.thewaverlypress.com/about it says
James also manages the estate for Billy Name who is best known as Andy Warhol’s 1960s Silver Factory era photographer. Look for projects related to Name’s photographs from the Waverly Press in the near future.

That’s good news. Maybe they’ll be some interesting photographs in there.
