"Linger On" live presentation from Miami Book Fair

Post by Sheila Klein » 19 Nov 2022 21:06

Airing live at 4p Eastern U.S. time (same zone as NYC) today:
Ignacio Julià, Thurston Moore, James Hamilton & Michael Imperioli: A Conversation
Ignacio Julià started writing about film and music in underground magazine Star in 1977. Linger On: The Velvet Underground is the definitive collection of his interviews with all members of the iconic, New York-born band, dating back to the 1970s. Joining him is his publisher, Thurston Moore, musician, writer, record label owner, and founder of Sonic Youth; rock ’n’ roll photographer James Hamilton, whose work is featured in the book; and actor, musician, and author Michael Imperioli. Simultaneous translation into Spanish available.
Audio only. No login or any other kind of gatekeeper -- just go to the page and the audio will start playing. I expect the program will last about an hour, and will most likely not be archived.

Update: There is a video component to this after all. That means there's a couple of Play buttons to push to get it started, but still no registration or other gatekeeper.

This event is archived after all and available for viewing, although I don't know for how long. Use above link.

The session was an enjoyable one. The author himself was unable to attend, but Thurston Moore, James Hamilton and Michael Imperioli engaged in an interesting, hour-long chat on various VU-related topics -- more like a bull session in a cozy tavern with VU-mad chums than anything formal. All three of the panelists had been friends with Lou Reed at one point or another, which gave rise to some amusing anecdotes highlighting his legendary wit.
