i can hear some of the Symphony of Sound soundtrack here and there, but don't recognise all the projected film sounds,

Symphony of Sound, definitely. In the interview they describe that film and say it is untitled. I can also hear lots of Hedy; I listen to an edit of the soundtrack more often than would be considered healthy. I was surprised that the sound of the films was onvwhen they played.

Wonderful. I thought that could well be Lou playing his Gretsch guitar
whilst John was being interviewed ... partly because it sounds like a
Gretsch (and not whatever Fender solid-body Sterling would be playing at the
time) and also because it is Lou passive-aggressively interfering in what John
was doing ...
