EPI Interview by Studs Terkel, 23rd June 1966
I don't think that this interview is widely known about - Studs interviews members of the EPI (Sterling, Gerard, Ingrid Superstar, Paul Morrissey and Steve Seznick (!)) on 23rd June 1966. Obviously during the stay at Poor Richards. It is 41 minutes long and very interesting. Pity John wasn't there....
(there's even a transcript!)

Didn't realize that the "snake" that was Steve Sesnick (to quote Cale) had inserted himself to that scene so early

Thanks Gordon
That was interesting, though probably Studs Terkel's befuddled questions were probably more interesting than their answers. His manner is surprisingly formal, but maybe that's tongue-in-cheek? Hard to tell. Sometimes you get the impression they're trying to give him genuine answers, but not always. I liked them reading out and commenting on the reviews. Hilarious that the website calls them the Purple Underground.

I don't really know what Studs' interview style was usually like - this is actually the only interview of his that I have heard, although he did many. I have a transcript of his 1959 interview with Lenny Bruce - I must look it out.simonm wrote: ↑28 May 2023 16:43Thanks Gordon

Hahaha, that Cleveland interview is brilliant. Every line from Lou or John is solid gold.
Int: What's your opinion on drugs?
Lou: I'm in favor of any of them. They should be given to people immediately.
