Trying to find video from 1980’s

Post by estreeter@aol.com » 27 Jan 2024 19:37

Hello.

I remember a Showtime (US cable network) television special from the mid-1980s in which Lou Reed shared a revolving stage with Lone Justice. I have tried searching on YT but I don’t recall the specific year or location of the show.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks.

I found out some more information. It sounds as the video might have a special show just for Showtime. They used to have a TV show called Rock of the 80s, which was recorded in Los Angeles. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I believe you are talking about his performance at the Palace Theatre in Hollywood 1984. I don't know anything about Lone Justice but I recall a revolving stage and other artists on the program. I think Lou was around 30mins. I should have it on S-VHS but don't recall if it's the whole program or just Lou.

Yes, that is the show. It was a 8-song set that lasted about 30 minutes.

Subsequent to my request I here, I actually found someone that has the complete video. They will be posting to YT once they get it transferred from VHS.

Thanks.

Yes, Rock of the 80s sounds familiar as the name of the program. I recall Chaka Khan being on the episode with Lou. My memory is that the stage would revolve to reveal the next performer starting their set after the last one ended. Strange that I can't seem to find any info online of Lou having been on the show, but I know I've seen it and probably have it on tape, but all my tapes and player are packed away.

I saw that the video is now available on YT. Not exactly what I had remembered, but still great.
