DESIGNER UNKNOWN ANDY WARHOL'S / MY HUSTLER. 1966.
22x14 inches, 56x35 1/2 cm. Murray Poster Printing Co. Inc., New York.
Condition A-: minor staining along bottom edge. Printed on card. Framed.
Andy Warhol's film, which took on themes of homosexual obsession and aspects of gay lifestyle which were new to the canon of American film at that time, was shot over an LSD-fueled Labor Day weekend on Fire Island. It is the "story" of an older man and his "Dial a Hustler" companion at the New York City weekend destination. And although the New York Times referred to it as a "fetid beach-boy film" (July 11, 1967), the film proved to be a financial success for Warhol. The film premiered in December 1965 at the Film-Makers' Cinematheque, and this poster advertises a screening in the spring of the following year.

But there are no stars in New York sky, they're all on the ground.

Interesting conversation. Yes, I am indeed still around. After the YahooGroups fiasco I became the webmaster for the Velvet Underground Appreciation Society. Check out http://vuas.net . The Stalker? Still around, still stalking, still a royal pain in the ass. Everything is archived on a massive website at http://internetstalkerx.org . As for Viglione, no idea of his whereabouts. That's a good thing.

Holy Toledo. I just looked at the auction site mentioned above and the VU '66 Scene poster sold for $8000.
The Cinemateque "My Hustler" poster sold was estimated at $1500-2000 and it sold for $31,000!
