The cover photo is apparently by Mick Rock. You can see the pores on Lou's skin, it's that detailed.
The back cover is Lou in a chair, elbow on a table, hand to mouth in contemplation, looking into the camera, two Coke bottles on the table, one empty, one full. Expanse of blank wall behind, with radiator to Lou's right. Looks to be from the same era as the front cover, black & white.

The band is listed as
Lou Reed - Vo. Gtr.
Doug Yule - Gtr.
Bruce Yaw - Bs.
Michael Suchorsky - Ds.
Martin Fogel - Sax.
Michael Fonfara - Kbd.

Sleeve is single, not gatefold.

Inner sleeves are transparent polythene.

Disks themselves are plain black vinyl. The labels all say 'REED 09071975'. Then LR-998 Side One, LR-998 Side Two, LR-999 Side One, LR-999 Side Two. The matrix numbers are LR-998A-1, LR-998B-1, LR-999A-1, LR-999B-1.

No production date listed

I probably bought this in Camden or Portobello market, London, early nineties.

I will try scan the covers later. Meanwhile here's a low quality webcam scan of the back.

I feel like a fool. Hope someone finds this even slightly interesting. If not, I'll delete.
Cool! It's always interesting to see something we've never seen before. Now we have proof that an LP version definitely does exist. Thanks :)

Wow...that cover looks pristine. But why not just shoot a vid of the back, flip it over and then shoot the front? Cocktease!

it's geat to finally see the back cover of the Tokyo boot.

Both front and back cover photos are by Mick Rock. The pic on the front was part of a whole series shot in Mick's Great Newport Street studio (in early 1975? - not really comfortable with that date. I think some time in 1974 is more likely). This is one of the few which are available in colour - RCA used several of them as promo pics but they are in b+w. The pic on the back is probably also from the same time - there are 2 similar shots in Jeremy Reed's book "Waiting For The Man".

and here are more:

Thanks, Lurid. I used a pic from that photo shoot for the bootleg cover art:

Dug this out this afternoon its the original contact sheet from that very shoot showing a relaxed happy Lou - on other pics from the same session without guitar Lou looks quite wasted/camp (!)
I seem to remember Lou pulling some similar faces (see bottom left) on the VU 93 tour....enjoy

thanks - that contact sheet is really nice. Do you know exactly when that photo session took place?

Sadly lurid there are no dates on any of the contacts. I was just looking at some Charlton May 74 gig footage and Lou has the very same cut - so they could be from early 74.
