Various VU cuttings from MIT college paper, 1966-72

What I appear to have stumbled on here is a piece on the VU from the MIT's college paper. It announces performances at the Savoy Theatre in Boston on September 22, 23 and 24 1967, providing music for a play called 'The Happening', along with David Hahn's Great Eastern Lights. There's also a picture of the band which I hadn't seen before, biographical info, and some rare quotes from Sesnick. Neat eh?

And this isn't really VU-related, but see http://www-tech.mit.edu/archives/VOL_09 ... 9_P006.pdf for a nice tale of Jonathan Richman and John Felice jumping up to jam with a local band called The Stompers in 1979.

if you look at the image closely along the outside edges you can clearly see the September 15, 1967 date - indicating when the article appeared. The VU website (Olivers') indicates a date for this time period:

September 22-24, 1967 ? Savoy, Boston, Massachusetts

Nice post, Mark! The pic is rare but it has been seen before (I believe a print of it was up for auction at eBay last year). The quotes are priceless, though.

"Unlike acid rock groups like the Grateful Dead, they do not feel the need for drug use" indeed! And White Light/White Heat, as my aunt Fanny knows, is about the joys of chewing gum :D

I've got the 2 page Max's review from Fusion magazine - it's from one of the earliest shows (if not the first). Quite a good review.

Any chance of scanning it and uploading it somewhere?
