This was the first John Cale concert I ever saw and it was very impressive indeed. Seating was "unreserved" so I got there early and
parked myself in a seat right bang in front of the stage - when John came on I couldn't have been more than 6 or 8 feet from him. The
recorder fitted neatly inside my jacket pocket and the mic was almost invisible clipped to my shirt. I thought that the recording came
out very well - a little bit boomy but very listenable. There's a (very) small section missing from the middle of "Chinese Envoy",
where the recorder automatically reversed the tape.
