FrankenLoaded, with Moe's drums digitally flown in from the Matrix 4-tracks.

What is "Honeymoon acetate"?

From Olivier's site:

Late 1969 or early 1970
"acetate demos"

Countess From Hong Kong (3:17)
Ride Into The Sun (3:42)
We're Gonna Have A Real Good Time Together (2:33)
I Found A Reason (3:15)

According to The First Night liner notes, this four songs are taken from a rare acetate dated 1969. The story says a bloody guy was honeymooning in New York and was going round through record shops when he was offered a tape copy of this acetate. The original is said to belong to Maureen Tucker's archives.

Fair point - Rhino licensed it for the Fully Loaded issue too, so it's not impossible. Just wonder if the licensing cost would make it prohibitively expensive for Universal to produce?

The Peel Slowly box also had a few Loaded-era tracks that weren't on Fully Loaded, so in theory the "full" set of recordings has never been presented together

Side One
Stephanie Says (Original mix)
What Goes On (Closet)
Walk And Talk (Fully Loaded)
Pale Blue Eyes (Closet)
Jesus (Closet)

Side Two
Hey Mr Rain (Version 1)
Beginning To See The Light (Early version)
Countess From Hong Kong (PSAS)
The Story Of My Life (Closet)
Foggy Notion (PSAS)
Temptation Inside Your Heart (Original mix)
Old topic, but this is the playlist I have had on a CDR since that discussion. I found and played it yesterday and think it works quite well as a way of using the odd Cale tracks that never made it to an album or even the studio. Mimics the 3rd album running to a degree and only uses one non-Cale track.

1. Stephanie Says (from 45th WLWH)
2. What Goes On (from 45th 3rd mono)
3. It's All Right The Way That You Live (from PSAS)
4. I'm Not Too Sorry (from PSAS)
5. Temptation Inside Your Heart (from 45th WLWH)
1. Beginning To See The Light (from 45th WLWH)
2. Guess I'm Falling In Love (from 45th WLWH)
3. Hey Mr. Rain version 1 (from 45th WLWH)
4. Sheltered Life (from PSAS)

Because I love the Ludlow/Broom Street demo tape and felt some of that stuff would have been nice if it had been developed. What Goes On from the 3rd album because it's a key Cale-era song and we can only imagine how good it would have been. (Missed off Foggy as that seems to belong to '1969/4th')

Foggy Notion was played with Cale in 1968 ... Jonathan Richman reported the song in his Sept 1968 article in Vibrations #10 Magazine as a "super hard rock song·"

Same as Cant´s Stand It, Pale Blue Eyes, Move Right In, Story of My Life and others

I don't think Foggy Notion would ever have had a place on any Velvets album - it's just a jam really isn't it?

Foggy Notion*. Can't Stand It. Move Right In. I just feel that those all are too much a part of '1969'/'4th' to be on the 3rd album. Their performances have moved far from the Cale era.

Pale Blue Eyes, Story of My Life. Can't explain why I'd put WGO on there and not those two. Can't explain it. Maybe I don't like Pale Blue Eyes. Didn't Cale dislike it? Plus, I wanted an overall SOUND that fitted the Cale era.

*There is a version of Modern Lovers performing Foggy Notion. Ditto proto-Pere Ubu.

Maybe that's right, but it goes well on the 1969 compilation.

I'm pretty sure it was Sterling who didn't rate PBE - he said something like "If I wrote a song like that, I wouldn't make YOU play on it"

And on a long misplaced tape of the Bataclan soundcheck, Lou plays PBE, Cale says "What's that?" as if it was new to him. Lou replies, "Pale Blue Eyes - there's a solo if you want it".
