During a recent visit to South Deerfield, Massachusetts I learned that the building that had housed the Woodrose Ballroom, Steve Nelson's performance venue which hosted several VU shows c.1970, was still standing, and was just up the road from where I was staying. I rolled by on my way out of town to take some quick snaps. The building is still in use, and home now to an auction house; as best I could tell the structure is unchanged.
FYI there was only one Woodrose Ballroom out that way. "Woodrose Ballroom" dates in Springfield, Massachusetts (approx. 20 miles south), such as the April 17, 1970 VU show, were promoted by Nelson's "Woodrose Ballroom" company.

P.S. Ignore the "vol. 1" in the subject title; there is only one set of pix, totalling five.

Amazing to imagine the VU playing there! Thank you very much for sharing these pix!

Fascinating thanks SK, i do love these 'where the VU played' photos.
I bet in that location the building has hardly changed in nearly 50 years. I can almost imagine the VU group loading equipment through that door 1!
