Boston Tea Party official recordings?

Post by falconwhit » 27 May 2018 08:26

Looking at Unterberger's book (page 223) there's a mention by Steve Nelson of "newly mastered live recordings of three VU shows at the club from late 1968 and early 1969". Does anybody know anything about this? Is he talking about remastered versions of the usual boots on keyhole and spyglass? Or would these be semi-pro recordings made by the Boston Tea Party, similar to the Fleetwood Mac's BTP recordings?

He is referring to the well known/circulated "professor" recordings.

Thanks - in the meantime I did reach out to Steve Nelson and he confirmed that it was just the usual boots.

It is a real shame that no soundboard quality recordings were made at the Tea Party.

It's also a real shame that the September '68 BTP tapes have never surfaced. Probably the last recordings of VU with Cale. Imagine hearing What Goes On with him on organ. These tapes are listed as existing in the old VU fanzine What Goes On.
