New Bataclan edition
New Bataclan edition
For anybody interested - new 'Pledge' edition of Le Bataclan, Paris, Jan 29, ‘72 'reunion'.
Limited Edition, Coloured 180g Vinyl 2LP (One Red, One Blue), in a hand numbered gatefold sleeve.
"Presented here, together with background notes, bonus DVD and two rare tracks culled from a rehearsal held in London shortly before the gig."
https://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/lo ... ledgemusic
Not sure how enticing that all sounds. Will it be speed-corrected? Wasn't there problems with the speed of some editions.
Anyway - just putting it out there.

Re: New Bataclan edition
Was there really a rehearsal in London? Weren't PBE and Candy on the long soundcheck, available on various tapes in the 80s or 90s?

Isn't this a vinyl re-gurgitating of this:

It had the extras, and so suggests that the LP might be speed corrected, too.

I listened to this gig properly for the first time. I really enjoyed it. Those versions of Mirror, Waiting, Black Angel. They may be the best post-Cale-VU live versions of those songs I've ever heard. They really work.

Re: New Bataclan edition
I'm intrigued as to how official this Pledgemusic version is - given that all the releases of this gig ever have been on bootleg/grey labels like Alchemy/keyholeiaredatsun wrote: ↑14 Jul 2018 13:28Isn't this a vinyl re-gurgitating of this:

That Amazon link says it's on "TTW" - this release doesn't appear on Discogs, nor does a label called TTW, so hard to tell

Wow, TONS of bootleg stuff in the "Customers Also Bought These Albums" section for me!iaredatsun wrote: ↑14 Jul 2018 13:28Isn't this a vinyl re-gurgitating of this:

I downloaded a copy of this album with the extras. It sounded slow to me. At least all the tracks up until 'Parties'.

Re: New Bataclan edition
I contacted Pledgemusic and asked if this is official Lou Reed product and if the people producing it owned all the rights (pointed out that this has never been officially released but bootlegged dozens of times)
They said they'd get back to me, but nothing yet.
It's an interesting business model if you can set up a pledge campaign to press up vinyl of anything you like regardless of whether you own the rights or not.

Re: New Bataclan edition
There is surely no way that this is any sort of an "official" release. The whole boundary between official and bootleg releases is now so grey that you can stick just about anything out now, so long as its not just a pirate copy of a "true" release....

I'd be surprised if they got back to you. Also, if this was official, I would have thought that they'd have access to original tapes, and I'm sure they would let everyone know about that.bobbydriver wrote: ↑23 Jul 2018 17:25I contacted Pledgemusic and asked if this is official Lou Reed product and if the people producing it owned all the rights (pointed out that this has never been officially released but bootlegged dozens of times)
