But the key thing is (well for me, that is), where is Doug? I hope this is not another docu where he is relegated to a minor role or seen as an irrelevance.
I'll bet money that nobody even bothered to give him a call.

Agree that he should be included. Hope he is.

I'm betting he won't be here. After all, it was both Lou AND Cale who didn't want him involved in the reunion shows.

It would be irresponsible of them not to include him IMO

Thanks for this. That's cool its getting an OST. Hopefully it will enlighten a new younger audience as to the VU.
Yes, but I hope this isn't all we're getting – after that 'new releases coming' teaser in Mojo Mag.
well, there's also another tribute album (yawn!) that's coming out at the same time - zero interest in this from me:

I’ll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground & Nico

1. Sunday Morning – Michael Stipe (3:50)
2. I’m Waiting For The Man – Matt Berninger (3:44)
3. Femme Fatale – Sharon Van Etten (w/ Angel Olsen on backing vocals) (4:43)
4. Venus In Furs – Andrew Bird & Lucius (6:55)
5. Run Run Run – Kurt Vile & The Violators (6:59)
6. All Tomorrow’s Parties – St. Vincent & Thomas Bartlett (4:52)
7. Heroin – Thurston Moore feat. Bobby Gillespie (7:24)
8. There She Goes Again – King Princess (3:29)
9. I’ll Be Your Mirror – Courtney Barnett (2:27)
10. The Black Angel’s Death Song – Fontaines D.C. (3:12)
11. European Son – Iggy Pop & Matt Sweeney (7:45)

Personally, I can’t stand tribute albums for any band let alone the VU.

On an embarrassing note, I seem to be the only person who did not know that the Theatre of Eternal Music track has been around for years

Up on iTunes, the Sister Ray track is called "Sister Ray (Live in New York, 1967)". Looks like this is most likely from the released Gymnasium show - the timings match. I was hoping that maybe some of the live tracks might have been new finds, but doesn't look like it.

Don't know why they would put that live version of Sister Ray on the soundtrack. The studio version (which is live in the studio) is superior to it in every way. That's one of their most powerful songs so why use a wimpy poorly record live version where Cale's organ is almost entirely inaudible.

I suspect that they used material that was featured in the film. If so, they chose the live Sister Ray for a reason – and that reason may not be evident until we see the film. Or they simply didn't want to use the typical material on typical 'best of' compilations.

By the way Doug Yule is in the film according to the cast list.
