The April version of Heroin that's on the Live '68 boot from ages ago. It absolutely destroys the recorded version in every way.

Gymnasium. It didn't hold up to my expectations hearing the whole thing, tho. But Guess I'm Falling in Love is peak Velvets for me.
I was left pretty unimpressed by Sweet Sister Ray. I wanted to like it, but it didn't really do it for me. The version of Heroin from that gig is electric, tho. Wish it existed in better quality. What's the best boot of it? Lou sounds like a joyful smackhead on that version, rather than a mournful one, as on VUAN.

really? the version on the live '68 album from ages ago sounds very good imo for its age and the obvious limitations of what equipment klimek had available. it's clear, you can hear the vocals and viola, and it's got a bottom end. mo pounds the shit out of those drums.

Gymnasium doesn't really count as a bootleg since it has been issued on the WL/WH 45th set, but the alt version of GIFIL from Cale's 1979 radio interview (the 'crunchy bam-bam' version) still counts. That's my fave, but basically nearly all of the available stuff is pretty great, right?
