June 3, 1967, Connecticut - Footage uploaded on YT
For anyone who hasn't seen this before...someone has uploaded the footage (audience footage - don't get too excited!) from when the band were playing at Philip Johnson Glass House, New Canaan, Connecticut, on June 3rd 1967.
It's in much better quality than when I last came across it, so thought I'd post it on here!

Thanks for that. No one thought to film the band, lol.

I know
I think I'd actually cry if some decent footage of a whole song performance emerged one day lol. The Boston 1967 film is infuriating to watch, such a missed opportunity. And you can tell even from the horrific audio quality that it was a great gig

I've got the whole film that this extract comes from and it is soooo frustrating! There was a camera crew there and they caught maybe 0.5 seconds of the VU on stage. A friend of mine contacted the original film maker in the 1990s and he confirmed that he had no "out-takes" lying around on the cutting room floor.

Agreed, Warhol couldn't have done a worse job of documenting that gig if he'd tried. It is pretty remarkable that they spent almost 2 years surrounded by filmmakers and never once recorded a proper gig.camforrester wrote: ↑09 Jun 2022 15:03 I knowI think I'd actually cry if some decent footage of a whole song performance emerged one day lol. He wasn't trying to document the gig. He was not a documentray film-maker.peppergomez wrote: ↑09 Jun 2022 17:55Agreed, Warhol couldn't have done a worse job of documenting that gig if he'd tried. I am aware of that. That doesn't change how much the film sucked for me as a viewing experience.iaredatsun wrote: ↑09 Jun 2022 18:02He wasn't trying to document the gig. He was not a documentray film-maker.peppergomez wrote: ↑09 Jun 2022 17:55

That's been the case for any number of near misses with VU performance footage, especially of song material. Warhol taking a 12 year old's approach to shooting a rock concert, the Nameth film, the lost Uptight appearances, Barbara Rubin "shooting" the EPI with no film in the camera, and so on are all cultural tragedies to me, and I wish I could clip the noses of those filmmakers and producers with a slating board for having wasted such amazing opportunities.I've got the whole film that this extract comes from and it is soooo frustrating! There was a camera crew there and they caught maybe 0.5 seconds of the VU on stage.

I originally got it on a VHS tape but some years ago a fellow fan put it onto a DVD for me. I will need to try to find it - I moved house recently and can't remember where it is! The theme of the film is Merce Cunningham's dance troupe so I found most of it very boring....the small segment on YouTube is all that is VU-related.
