Re: THE INEVITABLE WORLD OF THE VELVET UNDERGROUND CATALOGUE
I just received copy #007/500. What a beautiful and extensive book, and with so much rare and obscure material. It's a great purchase, and definitely worth the wait. Thanks, Alfredo!

Re: New VU flyer up on eBay.
Ah, okay. I thought you might be referring to the postcard, but got confused when you said that the original is on 'thin paper.' There are pre-concert handbills in various colors, and a post-concert postcard (which looks like the poster, but without the union logo) from 1967. The pre-concert ...

Re: New VU flyer up on eBay.
A word of caution when buying the Fillmore handbill - there were quite a few later printings in various strong colours. The original 60s printing is on very thin paper and not card stock and has a union logo on the bottom left, the later printings don't have the logo. Some naughty Ebay sellers make ...

Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
Ah, okay. I was thinking of the more well known dealers of sixties concert posters, and couldn't figure out who it could be.

Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
Are you sure it was bought by a poster dealer? Unless they're using a second eBay ID, I don't think I know of any poster dealers with a feedback score of only 550.

Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
The signature looks exactly the same, and it should be easy to tell if the signature was copied. It appears as though it may have been damaged in shipment. I just noticed that the original auction picture shows no damage to the poster, while the latest one shows substantial creasing to the upper ...

Re: Record Mecca VU-only blog
I love that Hippodrome poster. I've haven't seen one for sale in over 5 years, and that one had some condition issues. Sterling's copy looks really nice, and I assume it's unrestored. All things considered, I'd probably go for that one.

Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
Yeah, it actually advertises two different sets of shows. I wish the VU side had been made into a poster, as it's a great image by Gary Grimshaw. Fortunately, the handbill is fairly inexpensive. Both sides are shown here: http://thereisasite.blogspot.com/2011/06/assorted-velvet-underground-posters ...

Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
It's actually a two-sided handbill, with the VU listed on the other side.
