The art of the Straight Line: My Tai Chi

I just finished this last week. Anyone else read it? The focus is pretty much 1980 onward, so not a lot of Velvets stuff (except a few mentions of the reunion) but it's an interesting read. Talks a bit about Lou's solo stuff from The Raven to Lulu. It's interview style and goes quite a bit into Lou ...

Re: Todd Haynes docu announcement

Just finished this. Kinda disappointed. It's very pretty and well produced, but there's nothing new or noteworthy. It's freshman level Velvets 101. Like others have said, the timeline presented is misleading and it skips over a lot. For being two hours, it could have told a much tighter story had it ...
Some words from Moe on "The TakeAway" http://www.thetakeaway.org/story/rock-legend-lou-reed-dead-71/
Thanks for the link. I wish he would have just let Moe talk, rather than turn it into a generic interview about songwriting. I like her quote about ...

Re: Lou Reed is dead

RIP, Lou. Thanks for everything. :(

I was just having a conversation this morning with someone over favorite bands - he asked me if everyone in the VU was alive. I said only Sterling Morrison and Nico had passed away - guess I was wrong :(

Re: The Velvet Underground Peeled?

The info's pretty standard and up to date - like a more accurate "Uptight." Really nothing new or different. There's a little blurb about the Velvet Revolution which is interesting.

Re: The Velvet Underground Peeled?

I ordered it from Amazon but haven't read it yet - I need to finish some schoolwork first. I'll report back when I'm finished.

Far right. He's also on page 91 and 100 of the original "Uptight," if you have a copy.

Re: VU Performance Venues - What are they now?

I took these in 2007, when I was still living in Chicago: Former site of Poor Richards: http://i17.tinypic.com/66nm8ea.jpg http://i15.tinypic.com/62pt9cm.jpg Poor Richard's (1363 N. Sedgwick) From what I could find online, Poor Richard's began as a church and then became a concert venue. I really ...
