They're both classics, but Lady Godiva's Operation is an *experience*. And it's even less like any other song ever made than most of their material.

But it's not a bad song... I've always liked it a lot. Nice chilled out ambiguous anthem.

That big surreal painting on the wall that depicted some sort of violent situation? I didn't see the faces on it closely. It seemed like the kind of crappy post-cubist token art that a peyote addict like him would own.

You know, that movie has so many little details like that if you look closely.

I think Stephanie Says is my favorite Velvet Underground song. Anyone seen the Royal Tanenbaums? They play it in a scene that shows a flashback of this girl's tragic lonely early adulthood years of making out with strangers in dark buses... It fits the mood so perfectly, it's heartbreaking. Great ...

...well there goes ending the thread with the Hellen Keller jokes... Not to interrupt, but do you two realize you're comparing a SHORT STORY to a FOLK SONG? :? Hey man, not everything fits into your nicely little labeled boxes! :P They are both songs and got matched up in the poll,Looks like a lot ...

Both classic anthems... Too bad... The world would just seem different without Femme Fatale, though. That weird summer glow that stops time... It can't be found outside of that track. The way the guitar hits that note in a half-redundant echo... I get lost in it every time... Aaah, there's nothing ...

And in my book, inversion doesn't quite equal perversion :P It's interesting you say that, because come to think of it the whole musical "inversion" thing equalling "phallic deviation" or whatever, might actually have a point... about a hundred years ago (roughly) the word "inversion" was a ...

http://www.themodernword.com/joyce/joyce_works_fw.html I had similarly irritated views of Joyce's epics until I read this wonderful little introduction to Finnegans Wake. It's now one of my favorite books. If you're interested in what he was really trying to do with his experiments, I recommend ...
