If AI could be used to create a vocal-less Live MCMXCIII, that would be a Very Great Thing.
Nice. Agreed. Or to put Reeds vocals from VU era when he could actually sing.

C'mon...we would all buy any new edition of Max's material! Just adding another 1/8th of an inch to our VU vinyl collection makes me happy! Anyway...if Peter Jackson's computer-aided release of The Beatles Star-Club material is profitable, then we will see much more interest in this kinda thing. Bring it on...

Joking aside, I could probably live with Lou's 1990s "shiny shiny" vocal extemporisations if the mix of the music had been given any kind of balls. It all just sounded so clean and nice, so the fact that Lou was avoiding the actual vocal melodies like an ex at a party was really the final insult

Chelsea Girl with the flutes and the hokey orchestration removed could be interesting.

some guy did demix the Chelsea Girl LP a couple of years back to remove the flutes - was definitely interesting. Not sure if it's still online anywhere. His name was Allan Okada

The blog "Albums That Should Exist" has used the new AI technology to increase the vocals on both nights of End of Cole Avenue and it came out pretty good! The first night was always pretty unlistenable because of the low vocals. This new version is not perfect but it's a lot better. You can find them here:

10/19/69: https://albumsthatshouldexist.blogspot. ... e-ave.html

They also did Live at Max's but I haven't checked that one out

The result is good. I would like to hear the same treatment in more important recordings, for me, like the one in 66 with Nico and the live in the gymnasium

The "Albums That Should Exist" site makes heavy use of the free Ultimate Vocal Remover (UVR5) tool.
https://ultimatevocalremover.com

I had a quick play around with it using the default settings to extract the vocals from a couple of VU tracks, boost them in Audacity and then remix them with the instrumental stem.

The tracks I picked were:
1) "Guess I'm Fallin' in Love" (the studio/live mix uploaded to YouTube several years ago) &
2) "I'm Gonna Move Right In" (Boston Tea Party, 10 January 1969)

Here are the results:

They sound pretty good to me. :)

Good result!. The musical part should be balanced and strengthened because as we listen to it now they are disconnected. However, the amateur result is fantastic

Yeah. The real strength of UVR5 is how cleanly it separates and extracts the vocals even if they're buried deeply in the mix. It provides a lot of potential for someone who knows what they're doing (i.e.: not me) to get some interesting results.
