Herbie Flowers RIP

Post by threechordwonder »

Herbie Flowers has died - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjw41pp7vmo

I've copied this from the link above so you don't need to read it all - "He was credited with creating the famous bassline in Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side from his 1972 album Transformer."

Herbie lived in Ditchling, a little village just up the road from me and I met him a couple of times. He came into the radio station I worked in and we did a live interview. I talked to him about WOTWS and I think he said he got £14 for the session, no royalties obv. He was a really lovely charming man.
any sounds that we feel would detract from the performance has been left in place

I believe I'm right in saying he played tuba as well (Goodnight Ladies). He was across all the basses
