Received the VU and Modern Lovers boots yesterday.

I can report that I've been playing the Modern Lovers' Mercer boot non-stop today ("After Hours with..."). The sound is a bit on the boxy side of things as one would expect for an audience recording, but the performances are absolutely incredible. If you care about them, you'll definiteyl want/need to get this.

As for the VU boot "Tune In Drop Out 1966", I ordered so fast (impulse buy) that I only paid attention to the cover after receiving it. Whoever put this out obviously doesn't give a damn. They included a photo of Doug Yule and a 1969 photo for Sterl even though it's supposed to be 1966. Poor Richards seemed to sound worse than usual, and the long jam is split across both sides - the end of side one ends abruptly, like a scissor cut, which is jarring. I did enjoy the side 2 though and played it a few times. But still a bummer that a rehash of existing recordings is done so sloppily.

Thanks for the report. I'm definitely not going to buy this VU boot based on what you say. The Sunday's Clown also has bad edits. I still like it though, but it makes me wonder why they cannot put a bit more effort into them.
