Well, they say that there?s a sucker born every minute? and I guess I?m one of ?em for right now.

The ?Velvet Underground ? Live ? Austin, TX 1969? tape featured on eBay a while back is just another copy of the official ?1969 Live? vinyl LP. Anyway, for what it?s worth, here?s what I got:

1. Lou Talks (End Cole Ave. intro) > Waiting For My Man
2. Lisa Says > Why Am I So Shy > Lisa Says
3. What Goes On
4. Sweet Jane (Lou ends saying ?Good night.? to the everyone)
5. Real Good Time Together
6. Femme Fatale
7. New Age
8. Rock & Roll
9. Beginning To See The Light
10. Ocean
11. Pale Blue Eyes
12. Heroin
13. Band Intros > Some Kinda Love
14. Sweet Bonnie Brown > It?s Just Too Much

The only songs missing from the LP version are ?Over You?, ?White Light/White Heat? and ?I?ll Be Your Mirror?.

It turns out that only songs 1, 6, 11, 17 (and the intro to 13) are actually from Texas ? and NOT from the Vulcan Gas Co. Austin show. They are from the Oct. 19, 1969 End of Cole Ave. show. The others are from November of 1969 at The Matrix in San Francisco. At least that?s what the notes for the LP say. But the only time I can find that they played ?Sweet Bonnie Brown? was in January of 1970 at The Second Fret in Philadelphia. And the only time they played ?It?s Just Too Much? was at Cole Ave. on Oct 18, 1969. But never both at the same time. Did the producer of the LP ?create? a medley of the two songs or what? I?m confused!!!

Anyway, the hope of a LOST tape surfacing has been smashed yet again ? and at 30 bucks for a tape of something I already have several copies of, my wife is NOT happy with me at all.

tarbaby2 - thank you nonetheless for taking the gamble. The last thing we'd all want floating around the back of our minds is a question mark about what exactly was on this tape.

That's what I thought, too... "Oh, man, what if it is?" Well, live and learn, I guess. If it HAD been the Vulcan show and someone else had gotten it, I would have been kicking myself forever. Now, at least we know that THIS one isn't it.

Looking on the bright side... Since it was taped, there's still a (small) chance that it is still out there somewhere.

Exactly. NEVER tell your wife about this stuff.

Thanks from me too for taking the bullet. Are there any boots you're after and can't find? Maybe some of us can pay you back with a few copies.

NEVER tell your wife about this stuff??? Yeah, well I told you a sucker was born every minute....

Anyway, I appreciate your sentiments (thank you for feeling my pain).

I could use the ULtra Rare Trax vol. 3 disc - it has the only versio of Sister Ray that I don't have.

I could also use the Andy Warhol Museum disc.

If anyone feel generous, great! Go ahead and PM me for arrangements. But that's not why I did it. I just didn't want to let it slip by if it really was the Vulcan show.

Regrettably, I don't have either of those.
