So they recorded Beginning to see the light with Cale ithe studio before he left/was booted? Weird that never ended up on VU or Another VU. That would be great to hear. I always thought it odd that they didn't record Guess I'm Falling in Love and Walk It and Talk It during the WL/WH sessions, especially since GIFIL was a mainstay of their repertoire during 67 and they performed it on TV. Would have made a great single. If ever there were a deluxe WL/WH it would be awesome if there were unrealesed takes of either song recorded during those sessions. Also always struck me as unlikely that they only played 6 songs during the WL/WH sessions, given how prolific Lou's songwriting was then and how those sessions were recorded about 1.5 years after the scepter sessions that comprised the bulk of the banana album.
Bring on more Cale sessions!
(I'd also like to hear the mix of Heard Her Call My Name that isn't Reed's I'll advised and selfish remix that boosts his guitar to stupidly high levels. I think Morrison once stated that he quit the band for a few weeks in protest over that mix, which Reed did behind everyone's back. If that is to be believed. I also find it hard to believe that none of their 1968 shows other than those La Cave that Jamie Klimek taped were recorded. You just know that some clubs, especiallly those out in Calfiornia during VUs summer 1968 stint, recorded some of their shows. I suspect that VU were at the height of their musical powers mid-68. Reed and Morrison were much better guitarists then compared to '66 and '67. To say nothing of having maestro Cale on bass, organ, and viola. Imagine hearing a '68 live recording of Hey Mr. Rain! And Reed had a stockpile of great songs. Anyway, rant over. We have more than enough live Yule-era material. More Cale-era tapes need to be found and released.)

It is listed on Olivier´s as "I´M Begginning to See The Light".
My secret dream is Cale holding copies on his box of April 68 at La Cave (Klimek handed the tape to the band that was then returned to him in October) and June 68 Hippodrome Soundborad tape. Hope one day soon! (getting old)

There is potential for an incredible WL/WH deluxe box set, focussing on different mixes that may have been done, and possibly the full takes of all of the songs (is there still an argument that Sister Ray was two takes spliced together?), as well as live recordings from Sep 1967-Sep 1968. Not to mention the electric 1965 demo, and so on, which nobody can seem to agree on them ever existing, let alone existing now.

Not to mention the September '68 Boston tea party shows (Cale's final shows) that were apparently recorded.

BINGO!Chris M wrote:The session tapes for the 3rd LP definitely exist. No unreleased titles but lots of alternate takes. They should give the 3rd LP the "Funhouse Sessions" treatment. Now that would be a release that would sell!
However, I am definitely waiting for three things: 1) How limited this 6-disc set is, 2) if it is going to be available in different editions [Deluxe/Legacy/Collector/etc], and 3) the price!

I like the archive nature of box sets, I'm a sucker and I always buy them - but I rarely listen to them. Life seems too short somehow.
I think I just like looking at them.

any sounds that we feel would detract from the performance has been left in place

We have this already from the sundazed singles set. Much better rhythm to the song - mainly due to hearing Cale's bass better.peppergomez wrote:

Thanks for the link. All I see at that blog though is a pic of the 7" single and his description of it. No streaming audio option or download option. Clicking on the pic just opens another instance of the pic on photobucket.
