Velvet Underground: A New York Art?
Re: Velvet Underground: A New York Art?
Got mine also today from Amazon, and duly signed by the three (same Doug smdged signature)
The BOX is superb. But what really shoked me is the pictures inside the book .... there are dozens and dozens of NEVER SEEN BEFORE pics!!!
Mr. Kugelberg you deserve my ADMIRATION! Thanks.

Re: Velvet Underground: A New York Art?
I placed my Amazon.com order on 10/14, and received an unsigned copy in a slightly damaged case. If it were a less-expensive item I wouldn't have bothered, but I decided to return it for an exchange. I just received my replacement copy, and it has the Lou, Moe and slightly smeared Doug signatures. This the first time that I'm glad I received a damaged item.

Don't have a cow, man. Click on the "read full story" link in read and you'll rest a heck of a lot easier. That sleeve was for a special book signing, not for our limited edition copies.velvetfan wrote:What the f-ck??!! This link shows a picture sleeve! My copy had a generic white sleeve. I am gonna have a cow! I paid $165 and now there is a picture sleeve!! Why wasn't it in the deluxe book? Now how am I gonna be able to get that one? I am pissed; I didn't see that link because I may have called the store with the signing to try to get one.

Re: Velvet Underground: A New York Art?
You had to be standing in line at the signing to get one- read here-
"However, today - Tuesday 24 November - a very small number of these 7"s will be bundled with the standard ?35 edition of the book, at a special signing by editor Johan Kugelberg and contributor Jon Savage at the Stand Out / Minus Zero record shop on Blenheim Crescent, off Portobello Road, London.
The signing takes place between 4.30-6.30pm, and the first few customers will get a free copy of this official 7" record - which features previously unreleased material by The Velvet Underground - with the purchase of the book. "
Take heart in the fact that at least you didn't spend the $300 on it.

I wonder how many copies of the deluxe edition were produced, and how many of those were signed.

I am, but I'm still pissed! Who decided that of all the speaking/signing engagements, and deluxe books, that those few picture sleeves would go only there? I can't wait to see somebody try to sell this "very limited edition 45rpm" for $5,000 on eBay!bobbldr wrote:You had to be standing in line at the signing to get one- read here-

Deluxe Edition Special Features:BallroomDays67 wrote:I wonder how many copies of the deluxe edition were produced, and how many of those were signed.
--Limited to 400 copies
--Book is encased in a windowed clamshell box featuring type design from a rare Velvet Underground concert poster
--Includes 7" 45rpm record with extremely rare versions of two Velvet Underground tracks.
The tracks--"Real Good Time Together" and "If You Close the Door"--are taken from the personal collection of Mo Tucker and are produced by Universal Records.
The record sleeve features an early version of the cover art for the band's second album "The Velvet Underground" drawn by friend of the band Steve Nelson as well as the track listing for the record.
--CDR with the same two rare tracks packaged inside the book allows for digital downloads of these collector's cuts.
