Agreed. Big mistake on Lou's part kicking him from the band. Cale is a genius. The band was a lot less interesting sonically without him.

On a 1990 radio interview Cale was asked what he thought of a (played) John Lee Hooker song. Cale: "From when is this? 1966, I thought I'd heard it before. This is such an old Chess record, isn't it? At the time of the Velvet Underground, Lou Reed was quite impressed by this. He stole almost all of his guitar solos from records like this. At Chess they had such a hard and sharp sound, we took that directly from them with the Velvet Underground. As a teenager Lou had already listened to blues a lot. I didn't. I was mainly involved with classical music. All I knew about popular music were the close harmony groups I heard on The Voice Of America."

A couple of stunnig pictures from Cannes Festival 68 with 'almost' the whole crew of The Chelsea Girls Film, but I miss Edie&Mary might be due some passport problems or whatever but wonderful pix imo.
PS:the girl in striped dress looks Angelina 'Pepper' Davis.

I'd say it's very much of its time, the last vestiges of the 60's mod look, which was all but dead and gone by 1968

Well I guess Mangue answered this in the in other thread -

It was published in 1975, and may have been from late in the year?
